Bioptron Light Therapy
Bioptron light therapy
Bioptron Light Therapy uses specially produced therapeutic light to support the body's natural processes of repair, recovery and regeneration.
It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that can be used on its own or alongside other approaches.
The device
What is Bioptron?

Bioptron is a Swiss-made medical light therapy system that has been used internationally for more than 30 years.
I work with the Bioptron Pro 1, a professional light therapy device designed for both targeted and larger treatment areas.
Bioptron light is polarised, polychromatic, incoherent and low-energy, incorporating a broad spectrum of visible light together with part of the infrared spectrum, while remaining UV-free. The Pro 1 produces wavelengths of 350–3400 nm, with a degree of polarisation greater than 95%.
How it works
How does it work?
When Bioptron light reaches the skin, its different wavelengths interact with light-sensitive molecules, cells and tissues. This is known as photobiomodulation — the use of light energy to influence biological processes within the body.
Bioptron is designed to support cellular activity, microcirculation and the body's regenerative and reparative processes. Its effects include supporting tissue repair and helping to reduce pain and inflammation.
Where it's used
What can Bioptron support?

Bioptron Light Therapy has a broad range of applications. Depending on your individual needs, it may be used to support:
- Pain relief — including back, neck and shoulder pain, joint pain and persistent musculoskeletal discomfort
- Arthritis and rheumatic conditions
- Sports injuries and recovery — including muscles, tendons and soft tissue
- Inflammation and swelling
- Wound healing — including wounds following injury or surgery, burns, pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers
- Scar and tissue repair
- Skin conditions — including eczema, psoriasis and acne
- Cold sores and shingles
- Skin regeneration and anti-aging — including support for collagen and elastin production
- Microcirculation and local blood flow
- Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
Bioptron is also used within areas such as physiotherapy, sports medicine, rheumatology, dermatology and wound care.
What to expect
What does a treatment feel like?

Treatment is simple, quiet and comfortable. The light is positioned approximately 10 cm from the skin and applied to the appropriate area for a set period of time. There are no needles, electrical currents or physical manipulation involved.
Depending on what we are working with, I may treat one area or several areas during your session. With persistent muscular or joint issues, for example, I may also work with relevant nerve bundles rather than focusing only on where you feel the pain.
For some concerns, regular or daily treatment may be recommended for a period of time. Bioptron's treatment protocols can involve treatment once or twice daily, depending on the application.
When frequent treatment is appropriate, some people choose to purchase their own Bioptron light so they can continue treatment easily at home. If you are considering purchasing a Bioptron Light, I can support you through the buying process — helping you understand the different models, choose the most appropriate light for your needs, and get started with using it at home. Bioptron can also be incorporated into a bioresonance session where appropriate, allowing the two gentle modalities to complement one another.
A complementary approach
Bioptron Light Therapy is a complementary treatment and is not intended to replace appropriate medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment.
My approach is to use Bioptron thoughtfully and individually — supporting the body's own processes while respecting the role of conventional healthcare.
